Maureen (l), Mike (c), and Grant (r) will work together to create a risk management framework for Knowles Centre
The Knowles Centre is a nonprofit treatment centre for children and adolescents with emotional and behavioral difficulties. It helps around 250 youth annually through five core programs, including group care treatment, treatment foster care, independent living, day treatment and sexual abuse treatment programs, plus a range of support services. As an organization it has been accredited by the Council on Accreditation (COA) since 1988, and as part of that accreditation they assess areas of risk on an annual basis.
To better understand what risk management is within the Knowles Centre approached Spark about the possibility of finding someone to help them. It took us a while to find the right person, but our recruitment path eventually led us to Mike McAndless, who has more than 35 years of diverse and extensive experience in risk assessment and management.
With guidance from Mike, the senior admin team at Knowles will create a document outlining some of the risks Knowles Centre has, and the process to mitigate them. The document will be a starting place for a continual process of analysis and response, turning an already strong organization into an even stronger, safer workplace for both employees and those the Centre cares for.
