The Manitoba League of Persons with Disabilities has a long history of working for positive individual and systemic change for people who face barriers to inclusion due to disability. As an example, they successfully advocated for the creation of Winnipeg’s Handi-transit system. Active since 1974, the MLPD is still growing and changing with the times. They’re in the midst of launching a social enterprise to help make organizations and institutions barrier-free for people with disabilities, a process that was assisted through a previous Spark match. As part of this growth and change, they’re examining their HR needs and requirements. Wendy Hofford is a Director of HR for Mikkelsen Coward and the Nor-Tec Group, and is also an HR consultant and coach. In her latest Spark match, she’s advising MLPD’s Executive Director Jennifer Sande on how to best plan for the path forward, and assist in the development of some useful tools.
