Kelly at her match match meeting with NorWest!

The Volunteer Manitoba Awards are less than one month away!  They are going to look a little different this year but make sure to tune into Facebook Live on November 18th to join in on celebrating volunteerism in Manitoba.

Today we are profiling nominee Kelly Thibodeau!

Kelly Thibodeau has been nominated for the 2020 Spark Outstanding Pro Bono Consultant Award for developing a social media and governance plan for Norwest Co-op Community Health.

Kelly has been a Spark volunteer since 2018. She’s the founder and lead consultant of Squarely Social, with several years of experience as a digital media instructor.

NorWest Co-op Community Health focuses on engaging North West Winnipeg community members in community-based services and programs. It is the only healthcare Co-operative in Manitoba.

Together, Norwest Co-op and Kelly developed a plan that was customized for their unique needs.

“Kelly was very patient, and met with our management team a number of times to finalize a plan that would work for our agency,” says Elizabete Halprin. “She was always flexible, would meet with us on our schedule, would come to our location, and incorporated all our suggestions into a plan that would work. She was a professional, provided visually stunning presentation materials and was very kind and patient with us.”

The social media and governance plan helped Norwest co-op increase their engagement with the City of Winnipeg and the residents of the neighborhoods in the area. They now use their social media channels to share programming info, health care tips and upcoming events with the community.

“We’ve been able to take her suggestions and provide more effective and engaging communication with our target audience.”

Congratulations on your nomination, Kelly! Thank you for volunteering your time and skills to increasing the profile and reach of an important community organization that offers families health care, education and support services.
